House by the Sea
At more than five thousand square feet, this recreation of the original 19th century Queen Anne style house in Spring Lake, New Jersey, was a labor of love for the client, a celebrated mystery-writing novelist. Unfortunately, only three stained glass windows escaped the wrecking crane. All else is new, but true to the architectural zeitgeist of the place, and to a time when New Yorkers and Philadelphians of Irish descent flocked to this beachfront community for summers on the wide porches of Shingle Style grande dames.
